Glycine is one of the semi-essential amino acids and plays an important role in building the body's own protein. As a protein building block, glycine has numerous functions in our body. For example, the amino acid is B. for the formation of the red blood pigment hemoglobin, creatine (important for the energy supply of the muscles) or DNA. Glycine is also an essential component of the structural protein collagen and is therefore a building block for skin, connective tissue, bones, tendons and cartilage. The - for fat digestion – indispensable bile acid also contains glycine. In addition, glycine acts as an inhibitory (inhibiting or calming) neurotransmitter in the nervous system and is a building block of glutathione, an important endogenous antioxidant. Glycine is also used for medicinal purposes - e.g. B. as a component of choline to support liver function.

What is Glycine for?

The amino acid is a true all-rounder and a popular dietary supplement for athletes, people with a weak immune system, liver diseases, arthrosis or sleep disorders.
