The perfect smoothie bowl - 5 simple tips

Colourful smoothie bowls are now all the rage. The smoothie bowls are a great change from the typical smoothies. They score points both visually and in terms of nutrients. A smoothie bowl is a great way to start the day energised, especially when temperatures are high.

What is a smoothie bowl?

Like smoothies, the first smoothie bowl was created in America. A smoothie bowl is a healthy breakfast based on (frozen) fruit or vegetables, which is blended with a little liquid to make a creamy smoothie and then garnished with toppings and superfoods. Unlike the smoothie, the smoothie bowl also includes fresh fruit, muesli or nuts on top of the puréed fruit or vegetables.

Why a smoothie bowl?

Smoothie bowls are true vitamin bombs. They provide the body with plenty of micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances. By mixing the individual types of fruit and vegetables, the cell walls of the plants are broken down and valuable ingredients are released. The almost purely liquid food relieves the intestines and means that you don't feel tired or fatigued after eating. A smoothie bowl therefore boosts the metabolism and provides sufficient energy for the day.

The German Nutrition Society recommends at least 5 portions of vegetables and fruit a day. This corresponds to around 400 g of vegetables and around 250 g of fruit. Depending on how it is prepared, one smoothie bowl therefore covers 2 portions of fruit or vegetables.

A smoothie bowl can also be made quickly and easily. Especially when there is no time in the morning to make an elaborate breakfast. Smoothie bowls can also be used as a power snack on the go or at work to recharge your batteries. With vegetables, nuts and soya milk, they are also suitable as a savoury dish for dinner.

The most important thing at the end: smoothie bowls simply taste good.

5 component instructions

We'll show you 5 simple tips on how to conjure up delicious and nutritious smoothie bowls. You can choose whatever you want to combine. This means you can always try out new creations - there are no limits to your imagination!

Component 1: 1 cup of fruit or vegetables

Fruit or vegetables form the base for a smoothie bowl. The ingredients are selected as desired. You can conjure up one type or a combination of several types of fruit and vegetables.

Fruit: e.g. kiwi, apple, banana, strawberries, berries such as blueberries or raspberries, pineapple or mango

Vegetables: e.g. spinach, broccoli or green leaf lettuce

Component 2: ½ cup of liquid

As with a smoothie, liquid is also necessary for a smoothie bowl to create a creamy mixture. It is important that the smoothie bowl is thick so that it is easy to drain.

Liquid: e.g. water, coconut water, fruit juices, almond, soya or rice milk

Component 3: Toppings

Toppings give your smoothie bowl the right flavour. This means that those with a sweet tooth can also choose several sweet toppings.

Toppings: e.g. whole nuts or nut butter (almond butter, peanut butter), shredded coconut, fresh fruit or muesli

Component 4: Nutri-Plus protein powder

To ensure that your body is supplied with sufficient protein, our Nurti-Plus protein powder is a must. This is because our protein powder supplies the body with valuable amino acids and also keeps you full for a long time.
