Seitan shashlik with pepper sauce

Preparation of seitan shashlik / shashlik sauce:

  1. Mix the dry and liquid ingredients for the seitan shashlik separately and then combine. Quickly work into a dough, shape into a kind of baguette and leave to rest for approx. 10 minutes. Then cut into 4 thin strands, then cut out individual cubes (shashlik pieces) and leave to stand in simmering salted water for approx. 25 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, mix all the ingredients together for the shashlik sauce.
  3. Pour away the water from the seitan cubes and leave the pieces to cool. Using a slotted spoon or similar, gently squeeze the liquid out of the seitan pieces.
  4. Cut the onion and bell pepper into bite-sized pieces. Marinate the vegetables and side pieces with the shashlik sauce and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. String the individual components alternately on the skewers and place on the grill or in the grill pan.

Preparing the green pepper sauce:

  1. For the green pepper sauce, first mix the water with the protein powder in a shaker.
  2. Mix together the vinegar, agave syrup, mustard, Worcester sauce, green pepper and a pinch of salt.
  3. Finely chop the chives, add and mix the sauce.
