Seitan shashlik with pepper sauce
Preparation of seitan shashlik / shashlik sauce:
- Mix the dry and liquid ingredients for the seitan shashlik separately and then combine. Quickly work into a dough, shape into a kind of baguette and leave to rest for approx. 10 minutes. Then cut into 4 thin strands, then cut out individual cubes (shashlik pieces) and leave to stand in simmering salted water for approx. 25 minutes.
- In the meantime, mix all the ingredients together for the shashlik sauce.
- Pour away the water from the seitan cubes and leave the pieces to cool. Using a slotted spoon or similar, gently squeeze the liquid out of the seitan pieces.
- Cut the onion and bell pepper into bite-sized pieces. Marinate the vegetables and side pieces with the shashlik sauce and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- String the individual components alternately on the skewers and place on the grill or in the grill pan.
Preparing the green pepper sauce:
- For the green pepper sauce, first mix the water with the protein powder in a shaker.
- Mix together the vinegar, agave syrup, mustard, Worcester sauce, green pepper and a pinch of salt.
- Finely chop the chives, add and mix the sauce.
