L-arginine has a vasodilating effect

L-Arginine is a semi-essential proteinogenic amino acid. Semi-essential means that the body can not only absorb the amino acid through food, but can also form it itself in the urea cycle from carbamoyl phosphate, L-ornithine and L-aspartate. It is important that these precursor molecules are sufficiently present.

In certain situations such as illnessstress or intensive training the need for L-arginine can exceed the body's own production and must be supplied from outside . The need for this amino acid also increases in old age too. As arginine is particularly important forgrowth this amino acid is essential for infants. Together with lysine and histidine, arginine is one of the basic amino acids.

L-Arginine Effect

In the human body, arginine has multiple functions, it is involved in various crucial processes in the body. Many studies have shown that arginine has a special effect on health. In addition to improved wound healing and stimulation of the immune system arginine promotes the healing of diseases in the cardiovascular system, liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.

L-Arginine has a vasodilating effect

Arginine has the highest proportion of nitrogen of all proteinogenic amino acids. It is the sole precursor of nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is involved in the dilation of blood vessels and therefore has positive effects on the circulation and the oxygen supply to the blood vessels.

By improving blood flow, arginine also prevents cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, as it improves the pumping capacity of the heart and the flexibility of the blood vessels. Studies show that arginine can reduce elevated blood pressure via this vasodilatation.

L-Arginine has positive effects on diabetes

Arginine is also involved in the metabolism of various hormones. In particular, it influences the hormone insulin. Arginine promotes the release of insulin from the pancreas. It therefore supports the insulin metabolism, leads to normal insulin levels in the blood and regulates blood sugar.

In diabetes an administration of arginine is therefore recommended, as it improves insulin sensitivity and counteracts secondary diseases caused by diabetes.

L-Arginine promotes potency

Another important function lies in the potency-enhancing effect. As L-arginine leads to improved blood circulation in the body, it can counteract sexual dysfunction. In this context, various studies show a special effect of arginine together with pine bark extract.

In addition, the sperm density and number as well as the quality and the mobility of sperm should be increased through regular arginine supplementation.

L-Arginine strengthens the immune system

Arginine also has a positive effect on the immune system. L-arginine leads to a strengthening of the immune system and leads to foreign and harmful substances in the body being recognised and combated.

During intensive physical training the immune system can be particularly weakened, so the need for arginine is particularly high. For athletes in competition preparation this is of enormous importance, as the flu or a cold can extremely disrupt the preparation phase. Arginine is also useful after operations as it contributes to increased wound healing

L-Arginine in Sports

L-arginine is particularly interesting for fitness athletes and bodybuilders, as it dilates the blood vessels and is therefore often used as a pre-workout booster . The improved blood circulation also increases the nutrient and oxygen transport in the muscle . Athletes can therefore perform better and increase muscle strength by supplementing with arginine.

This was also confirmed in a study: A regular intake of L-arginine leads to a significant increase in performance in cross-country skiers. Here, the athletes were given 3 g of arginine daily for three weeks, divided into three single 1 g doses. After the study, a significant increase in performance of 8% was recorded in the cross-country skiers.

Arginine is also a main component of connective tissue (e.g. collagen). e.g. collagen) and component of muscle proteins. During sporting activities, performance is increased by the release of growth factors such as prolactin and glucagon. This leads to increased muscle growth.

In addition, arginine is involved in the biosynthesis of creatin creatine. Creatine plays a particularly important role in the energy supply to the muscles and leads to increased muscle growth.

L-Arginine: dosage, intake and side effects

L-Arginine is a safe dietary supplement . Doses of up to 6 grams per day are well tolerated in studies. Arginine is also well tolerated in the long term.

As arginine has an effect on blood pressure and has been shown to lower it, people with low blood pressure should be careful when supplementing and approach the dose slowly. Higher doses of arginine can also lead to diarrhoea and nausea .

If you have kidney or liver disease or are taking medication that dilates the blood vessels, you should consult your doctor beforehand.

We recommend an intake of 4.5 g per day. To do this, 6 capsules must be taken daily with sufficient liquid. For very intensive training, it can also be up to 10 capsules a day.

L-Arginine: Who is it for?

Arginine is interesting for every person who does sports .

However, not only athletes benefit from arginine supplementation, but also people with a weakened immune system. Arginine can also be of great benefit for various diseases such as diabetes or arteriosclerosis as well as after surgery

Our product Nutri-Plus L-Arginine Base 4500

Nutri-Plus L-Arginine Base 4500 is the ideal dietary supplement for every exercising athlete.

Our product delivers premium quality - with high-dose 3750 mg of almost 100 % pure L-arginine per daily dose. In comparison, arginine HCL (hydrochloride) only provides approx. 80 %. Our product therefore has a significantly higher bioavailability. L-arginine base has a pH value of around 10-12, making it easier to digest than arginine HCL, which has an acidic pH value.

Nutri-Plus L-Arginine Base 4500 is compared to many other products 100 % vegan, as it is made from barley. It contains no additives such as aspartame, colourings or preservatives. It is also free from carbohydrates, sugar and fat. It is therefore ideal for a low-carb diet.
