8 tips to save calories

To help you lose weight successfully in the long term, we have put together 8 tips on how you can cut calories in your everyday life.

1. drink two glasses of water before every meal

Adequate daily fluid intake (at least 1.5 litres) is very important for the body; everyone knows this.

Researchers in a British study have now discovered that two glasses of water before a meal ensures that less is eaten. They divided the overweight test subjects into two groups. One group was asked to drink 500 ml of tap water half an hour before eating over a period of 12 weeks. The control group, on the other hand, did not change their fluid intake. The British researchers came to the conclusion that the water drinkers lost an average of 1.3 kg more weight than the control group. The test subjects who drank two glasses of water before all three meals even lost over 4 kg after 12 weeks.

The large amount of water causes the stomach to fill up more quickly and therefore the feeling of fullness occurs earlier. It is therefore advisable to drink at least one glass of water before every meal to save calories. If you want to enhance the effect even more, it's best to take our Kilopurzler made from glucomannan. This is because glucomannan is a water-soluble fibre that swells in the stomach and therefore sends a satiety signal to the brain even faster.

Note: Of course, the form in which the liquid is consumed is crucial: Water, unsweetened tea or coffee are best. Alcoholic and soft drinks should be avoided.

2. eat slowly

You should make sure that you take enough time with every meal. This is because it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the body to send a satiety signal to the brain. If you eat too quickly, you may therefore consume more calories than you actually need. This happens particularly often in stressful situations or due to distraction, for example when watching TV. This is also shown by an American study. Test subjects who switch off the TV while eating are less likely to be overweight.

3. a vegan or vegetarian diet

Saving calories with a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle? Various studies now prove this. By avoiding meat, less fat is consumed, especially less saturated fatty acids, which make food particularly high in calories. Furthermore, high meat consumption has a negative effect on cholesterol levels and is associated with various diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Replace your animal protein sources with plant-based ones. This not only has a positive impact on your health, but also helps you lose weight.

4. stimulate your metabolism with Metabolism Active

A functioning metabolism is essential for long-term weight loss. Want to stimulate your metabolism? Then our product Metabolism Active will help you. The specially developed nutrient formula helps to speed up your metabolism and is therefore beneficial for losing weight. In addition to B vitamins, our Metabolism Active contains iron, zinc, chromium, vitamin D, black pepper extract (piperine) and co-enzyme Q10.

Spicy food (active ingredients capsaicin and piperine), ginger and caffeine can also stimulate the metabolism.

5. eat plenty of protein

In order to lose weight, you should eat a protein-rich diet. This is because protein keeps you full for longer and prevents cravings. You should therefore eat 0.8 - 1 gram of protein per kilogramme of body weight every day. Pulses such as soya and lentils, grains such as rice and nuts are particularly good sources of plant-based protein. If you want to increase your protein intake even further, reach for our protein powders.

6. get enough sleep

Current studies show that a lack of sleep has a negative effect on our metabolism. People then tend to eat more throughout the day and therefore gain more weight. Sufficient sleep of around 7 to 8 hours is therefore helpful to lose weight successfully in the long term. Sufficient sleep also promotes fat burning. You can find our two sleep products here.

7. use small plates

Studies show that small plates have a positive effect on weight loss. Portions look larger on small plates, giving the impression that you have eaten a larger portion than is actually the case. In various studies, the test subjects ate smaller portions by a third on average.

8. Avoid stress

In stressful situations in particular, the stress hormone cortisol is increasingly released. This increases blood pressure, disrupts the metabolism and causes hot hunger attacks. People who are under a lot of stress often tend to eat more and put on weight quickly. It is therefore important that you avoid stress as much as possible. Stretching exercises at home or in the office are beneficial for reducing stress. You can read more about cortisol and how you can lower your cortisol levels here.
