Selenium Complex Tablets

Selenium is a vital trace element that is a component of numerous enzymes and is thus involved in a multitude of reactions in the body. It is important for a functioning immune system, healthy nails and hair, the formation of thyroid hormones and sperm as well as the protection of the organism against cell damage caused by free radicals. Since selenium cannot be produced in the body itself, a sufficient supply of selenium via food or food supplements is essential. However, the selenium concentration in plant-based foods depends on the selenium content of the food. In Germany as well as in the surrounding countries, plant-based foods and thus most plant-based foods tend to be low in selenium.

Our Nutri-Plus Selenium tablets therefore contain 200 µg of selenium per tablet. One tablet per day supplies the body optimally with selenium. The combination of selenomethionine and sodium selenite leads to a particularly high bioavailability. Sodium selenite is absorbed particularly quickly by the body and can be incorporated directly into so-called selenoproteins. Due to its binding to the amino acid methionine, selenomethionine has a half-life that is more than twice as long as that of sodium selenite and is thus available to the body for longer.
