Veganuary is a non-profit campaign and organization that invites people around the world to go vegan for theentire month of January. The goal is to make it easier to get started with veganism—without any pressure, but with lots of inspiration, delicious recipes, and support. Veganuary is so popular because it sets a clear time frame and fits perfectly with New Year's resolutions. Many people use the month to try new products, eat more plant-based foods, and reduce their consumption of animal products.

Behind the Veganuary movement is a non-profit organization from the UK that has been active since 2014.The organization operates independently of commercial interests and focuses on providing information and support for a plant-based lifestyle. Veganuary officially starts in January and runs throughout the month. But you don't necessarily have to start on January 1—you can start anytime in January or even later in the year. Set small, realistic goals—for example, three strictly vegan days per week or one vegan breakfast, lunch, or dinner every day. No problem—every vegan or vegetarian day counts and is a step in the right direction. Even small changes toward a more plant-based diet have a positive effect on your health, the climate, and animal welfare. We have put together a few tips for you on how you can make your everyday life a little more vegan: Try not to consume animal products every day.

➡️ Regularly replace cheese, milk, or yogurt with plant-based alternatives.

You don't necessarily need to take dietary supplements during Veganuary itself, provided you eat a balanced and varied diet. However, after Veganuary, if you want to permanently integrate more plant-based foods into your diet, you should keep an eye on a few micronutrients: First and foremost, vitamin B12, as it is found almost exclusively in animal-based foods. So if you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, you should supplement vitamin B12. Vitamin D is also one of the critical micronutrients in Germany, regardless of your diet. Especially in the winter months, the body's own synthesis via the skin is often insufficient, which is why supplementation is advisable. In addition, you should keep an eye on other micronutrients such as omega-3, iron, zinc, and iodine, as these can often be lower in a vegan diet.
