Glycine is one of the semi-essential amino acids and plays an important role in building up the body's own protein. As a protein building block, glycine has numerous functions in our body. For example, the amino acid is required for the formation of the red blood pigment haemoglobin, creatine (important for supplying energy to the muscles) and DNA. Glycine is also an essential component of the structural protein collagen. Bile acid, which is essential for fat digestion, also contains glycine. In addition, glycine acts as an inhibitory (inhibiting or calming) neurotransmitter in the nervous system and is a component of glutathione, an important endogenous antioxidant.

The amino acid is a true all-rounder and a popular dietary supplement among vegetarians and vegans. We use pure vegan glycine for our glycine powder, which is GMO-free, additive-free and free from animal ingredients.
