What do 3K and 6K actually mean?

To begin with, we would like to briefly explain what 3K and 6K actually mean. The names 3K and 6K indicate how many plant-based protein components the respective recipe consists of. The letter “K” stands for components. The nutri+ Vegan 3K Protein combines three plant-based protein sources (3K = 3 components), while the nutri+ Vegan 6K Protein combines six different plant-based protein sources (6K = 6 components).

Why do we combine individual protein sources?

So-called multi-component proteins combine different plant-based protein sources in one recipe. Since individual protein sources differ in their amino acid profile, they can complement each other in a meaningful way. This combination creates an ideal amino acid profile with all essential amino acids.

One example: pea protein contains high amounts of the amino acids L-lysine and L-leucine, while the content of L-methionine and L-cysteine can be lower. Rice protein, on the other hand, has a higher proportion of L-methionine and L-cysteine, while L-lysine may be present in lower amounts.

Multi-component proteins therefore provide you optimally with high-quality protein and supply you with all the amino acids you need. This makes them the ideal companion for muscle growth and muscle maintenance

What is the difference between 3K and 6K Protein?

As you can see in the table, both vegan protein powders have many similarities. They have a similar protein content, an almost identical amino acid profile and impress with their good solubility as well as their creamy consistency. Both protein powders are also low in sugar.

The difference between the two protein powders lies mainly in the type and number of protein sources as well as the different flavours.

The big difference: The flavours

Both protein powders are available in a large selection of delicious flavours. Some flavours are available for both the 3K and 6K Protein, while others are only available for one of the two protein powders in our range. This means you can choose the right protein powder for you depending on your taste and preference.

Good to know: Both the 3K and the 6K Protein are also available in a neutral version. This contains neither flavourings nor sweeteners and is therefore ideal for cooking or baking. Since it does not add sweetness, it only gives your recipes the natural flavour of the protein sources it contains.

Another difference: Gluten-free recipe

Since the recipe adjustment, the 3K Protein no longer contains wheat protein and is therefore gluten-free. This makes it particularly suitable for people who want to avoid gluten or prefer a gluten-free diet.

The 6K Protein still contains wheat protein. The wheat protein it contains (gluten protein) can contribute to improved binding and a more pleasant dough structure, especially when cooking and baking, depending on the recipe.

Conclusion: Which protein suits you better?

The nutri+ Vegan 3K Protein and the nutri+ Vegan 6K Protein both offer high-quality plant-based protein sources with an almost identical amino acid profile and are ideal for muscle growth and maintenance. The biggest difference lies in the composition of the protein sources, the gluten-free recipe of the 3K Protein and the different flavours.

If you value a gluten-free recipe or want to avoid wheat, the 3K Protein is the right choice. If, on the other hand, you regularly want to use your protein powder for cooking or baking, the 6K Protein can contribute to better binding and dough structure in some recipes thanks to the wheat protein it contains.

Whether 3K or 6K – both protein powders impress with a high protein content, a creamy consistency and very good solubility. Which protein suits you better mainly depends on whether a gluten-free recipe is important to you and which flavours you prefer.
